In 2021, Russia launched an aggressive and brutal war on its neighbor Ukraine. This sudden violence triggered global instability and a refugee crisis, but it also sparked global solidarity among artists for the people of Ukraine.

The artists on the Noise for Ukraine compilation were asked in 2021 to contribute tracks responding to Russia’s brutal war with Ukraine, now entering its second year. They span a number of disciplines, from noise, to ambient, electroacoustic, free improvisation, industrial and beyond. While the range of music is wide, each track in its own way is an expression of defiance against Russian aggression, and support for the Ukrainian people.

Artwork for the compilation was contributed by noted metal cover artist and graphic designer Caroline Harrison, who has designed cover artwork and t-shirts for countless bands including Sunn0))), Inter Arma, and Pig Destroyer.

Mastering (as well as one of the tracks!) was graciously contributed by Julian Silva of On-Air Mastering in Portland, Oregon.

All proceeds from this compilation will go to benefit Ukraine Trustchain, a nonprofit formed to support Ukrainian volunteers delivering aid to and evacuating victims of the war from the most dangerous areas of Ukraine.

Early Low has a very “minimal” sound that seems quite bare at first—the nice thing is that one acclimates to it and then the “bareness” renders the listener more sensitive to the layers of sounds, and with that sensitivity comes an emotional openness that is quite strong. This release is one of the colder sounding ones. u frickin fricks !!!
